New York State AFL-CIO Announces Additional Endorsements at COPE Convention

This week, the 2.5-million-member New York State AFL-CIO announced endorsements of candidates running for Congress, State Senate and Assembly. The endorsements took place at the state federation’s 2026 Committee on Political Education (COPE) Convention at the Albany Capital Center, Albany, NY. Delegates representing union members from the public sector, private sector, and building trades attended.

Mario Cilento, President of the New York State AFL-CIO, said, “We endorse these candidates with great confidence that they will fight hard on issues that will impact the lives and economic well-being of working people. Through our enhanced member-to-member program, we will knock on more doors, make more phone calls, and send more texts to ensure we elect candidates who share our vision for the future.”

Statewide Endorsements:

  • New York State Governor: Kathy Hochul (D)
  • New York State Attorney General: Tish James (D)
  • New York State Comptroller: Thomas DiNapoli (D)

Congressional Endorsements:

  • NY-21: Blake Gendebien (D)
  • NY-22: John Mannion (D)

New York State Senate Endorsements:

  • District 45: Dan Stec (R)
  • District 51: Michele Frazier (D)
  • District 53: Joseph Griffo (R)

New York State Assembly Endorsements:

  • District 116: Scott Gray (R)
  • District 119: Jonathan Lipe (D)
